The Challenge

The University of Manchester has a vast student body and global reputation. Their digital ecosystem, however, was disjointed, with inconsistent user journeys across faculties and a lack of cohesion in design and navigation.

The challenge was to create a unifying platform that simplified information access, improved usability and reinforced the university’s world-class reputation.

02

Our Approach

We worked with the university to rationalise content across multiple faculties, creating consistent templates and navigation patterns. Course pages were simplified and optimised for mobile, while research content was restructured for clarity.

The design introduced a modern visual identity that aligned with Manchester’s global standing, while the CMS supported decentralised content management at scale.

03

Impact

The relaunch improved usability across the board, with average time-to-content reduced by 35%. Course applications rose by 10% year-on-year, and faculty staff reported significant efficiency gains in publishing content.

The platform helped unify Manchester’s digital presence, reinforcing its position as a top UK institution.

04

The Outcome

A unified digital platform that improves usability, supports recruitment and reinforces global reputation.
